2019
Choosing favourite photos from 12 months of photo files wasn't easy and I've probably forgotten a few important events. Here are some precious moments captured in picture, starting with the biggest event, which is actually more of an issue than an event - and it is far from over.
The caption says it all. What it doesn't say, is how many of these shows I played in 2019. |
I played with several recording artists in 2019 - Brian Doerksen, Sean Dayton, Chris Bray, Jeff Catto, Luke Langman, Matt Fox, Drew Brown and Jeremy Benjamin to name a few.
FEBRUARY - Todd Gale and I took a trip to Nashville in February to attend a two-night retro concert. There were six artists each night - Wes King, Clay Crosse, Eddie DeGarmo, Geoff Moore, Guardian, the Katinas, Big Tent Revival, Rick Cua - who am I forgetting? In this photo above - L-R Phil Keaggy, Clay Crosse, Geoff Moore, Eddie DeGarmo (sitting), Tammy Trent, Al Denson, Jaci Valesquez and Jamie Rowe (Guardian)
The next day, after the Retro Concert, we took a side adventure to the Johnny Cash museum and then Ubered to his gravesite. These gravemarkers are beautiful black marble.

FEBRUARY - This is Ken Bell. He was the producer at CHAB in Moose Jaw where we worked together in 1986. I had not seen him for more than 30 years. When he told me he had cancer and was ready to pass, I few to Saskatchewan to reminisce and say my goodbyes. Here we are jamming to "Knockin' On Heaven's Door", me using his coffee table as an instrument. |
APRIL - I had dental surgery - twice. The big one was extracting my entire upper rack of teeth, as I wait for implants. The last 12 months has been a series of appointments, no teeth, dentures, repairs, more waiting - I'm sure it will look wonderful but I can't wait for this to end, next January. |
Janice and me - biking in Oro. |
JUNE - My annual bike trip in Ottawa along the Rideau Canal. Tom Roe joined me for the fun...which also included two biking accidents! |
My hand slipped on the handlebar and the bike spun, I flew off, landing on my head - without a helmet. There was lots of
blood, a sprained wrist that lasted for months and some skin scars. Always wear a helmet. |
JUNE - I know this photo is buried in the list, but without question this WAS the best part of 2019. A concert in the Oro Station Super City Centre featuring the Rolling Stones! And my ticket got me in the pit - the closest I've ever been, or likely will be. Close? Ah ya. This photo was not even zoomed in. |
AUGUST - New family photo! Kyler, AJ, Dallas, Crystal, me, Janice, Oliver, Gretyl, Elliott, Brett and Asa. |
SUMMER - My view. Every day. |
Playing percussion for Tom Roe, whom I also manage. We played 102 shows at Retirement homes and churches. "On The Road Again" was never played more honestly! |
JULY - For two years I was playing percussion at "Impact" - a monthly evening service at Simcoeside Church in Orillia. Pastor Matt Fox (2nd left) moved to Israel. This was the last performance for him - and me. |
Summer-girl. She loves to play frisbee, catching it with her paws. |
AUGUST - Me and Janice - at the LIFE 100.3 20th Anniversary Party! |
AUGUST - Luke Langman performing at the LIFE 100.3 20th Anniversary Party. Luke opened for 7eventh Time Down. A milestone event in the journey of LIFE 100.3. August 16, 2019 - First Baptist Church, Orillia. |
AUGUST - In the summer it was my best friend Andrew Haverson's birthday. As a surprise I took him to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland. Our friend Jim Sampson joined us for fun on the road! |
AUGUST - Tom Roe - whom I manage, perform with, bike with and enjoy company with, got married. Again. I was honoured to be his best man. The wedding was held at my house on the waterfront of Lake Simcoe. Me, Janice, Elaine (Mrs. Roe) and Tom.
SEPTEMBER - Gym life. I ramped up my fitness activity to a daily routine. I modernized the basement gym with mirrors and "walls" and decorations. And, I recruited a dozen guys to join me. I'm feeling good and I hit my goal weight of 169. |
OCTOBER - A happier moment with Janice. In October she was diagnosed with a kidney stone, by way of Sepsis. After a couple of ambulance rides to hospital, a stent, 2 daily visits to the infirmary while on our Caribbean cruise and a 5-day stay in ICU in Barrie, she started to get well. This was not a good year, healthwise, for Janice.
OCTOBER - Our Caribbean cruise took place over Hallowe'en. It was the 9th annual KISS Kruise, featuring the band KISS, who performed a big show in the Stardust Theatre, an acoustic show on the pool deck and several Q&A sessions. We always wanted to do this cruise and now we've found there are many music cruises with different genres of music. Can't wait for
2020! |
NOVEMBER - Brian Doerksen and me - "Carry A Blessing". This photo was taken at my house, at a house party. We stuffed 40 people into the house! Earlier in the week Brian and I played a public show in Peterborough. I practiced this song everyday for a week - and it's now one of my very favourites! |
As 2019 ends, I will have completed three years on the air with "The Scott Jackson Show" on Amherst Island Radio. It is a small community radio station near Kingston. The show features songs from my radio days in Kingston, and some Christian music, and some old radio tapes of my CKLC hijinx from 35 years ago. |
